Dritt Christy, Missouri
Dritt Joseph Christy was born in Odessa, Lafayette, Missouri on July 26, 1878 to Bainbridge Christy II and Sarah Ann Phillips Christy.
Dritt Joseph Christy and Sarah Grace Woods we married on August 27, 1901, in Benton, Arkansas.
Dritt, Grace and their 4 oldest children (Aileen, Marie, Joe and Helen) moved from Missouri to Arriola, Colorado in 1909. Dritt moved his family from Odessa, Missouri to Arriola, Colorado because he and his brother were suffering from tuberculosis. The dry climate of the four courners area was thought to be helpful in the treatment of tuberculosis. Dritt built a house in Arriola, Colorado that is still standing today. They raised alfalfa and wheat on their 60 acres of land.
Albert Christy, Dritt's brother lived outside the house Arriola in a tent because he suffered from tuberculosis.
Unfortunately he did not survive the disease as Dritt did.
Dritt and Grace donated the land for the Arriola Cemetery, in Arriola Colorado so that his brother Albert could be
buried there.
In 1920 they moved to Fort Lewis mesa and raised alfalfa and Navajo Sheep
Dritt and Grace raised seven girls and one boy.
Dritt and Grace moved to Mancos, Colorado in 1954. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Died on October 5, 1966 at the age of 88, in Durango, La Plata, Colorado. He was laid to rest at Greenmount Cemetery, Durango, La Plata, Colorado.
