Aileen Christy, Odessa, Missouri
Aileen Christy was born in Odessa, Lafayette, Missouri on July 20, 1902. The daughter of Sarah Grace and Dritt Joseph Christy. When Aileen was seven her parents moved the family to Colorado. They settled in Arriola, Colorado in 1911 where Dritt built a home that still exists to this day.
In 1920 Aileen graduated from Durango, La Plata, Colorado highschool.
The family moved to Breen, Colorado in 1920 where they raised alfalfa and Navajo Sheep.
Aileen was hired to teach home economics at the American Indian School in Truxton Canon, Arizona in 1927 for $1,380 per year.
In 1938 she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Science with a major in Home Economics from The Colorado State College, at Fort Collins.
Aileen completed a 12 month course in Hospital Dietetics, at the University of Oklahoma, University Hospital in 1939.
She then went to work at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital as a registered dietician.
Aileen was an avid Dodger fan, she loved to play golf and spent many hours birdwatching. She retired in San Diego, California.
